Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is online therapy right for me?
Online therapy offers a very flexible and convenient way to engage in therapeutic work. It can be just as effective as meeting in-person and is a great option if you have a busy schedule, find it difficult to travel, or simply prefer the comfort of your own space. I’ve found it works really well for clients who want to explore big questions about life transitions, identity, anxiety, or depression. We can explore if it feels like a good fit for you during your free initial consultation.
2. How does online therapy work?
Our sessions are conducted via video call using Google Meet, a platform that is secure and confidential. The process itself is quite simple: you just need a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Each session lasts 50 minutes, and my aim is to create a safe, warm, and uninterrupted space for you to talk freely and openly.
3. What is the difference between open-ended therapy and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy (BSFT)?
I offer two distinct ways of working together. Open-Ended Therapy is a more flexible approach where we work together over a longer period, allowing us to delve into deep-seated feelings and themes that come up. It's a great option for exploring ongoing life challenges or experiences like anxiety and depression. Brief Solution-Focused Therapy (BSFT) is a structured, time-limited approach, designed to last approximately 6 sessions. This is a great choice if you have a specific, current problem or a clear goal you want to work on.
4. How much do sessions cost?
The fee for a standard 50-minute open-ended therapy session is £70. For my structured BSFT programme, the fee is a fixed price of £450 for the full 6 sessions, paid in advance. My developing financial therapy service will be £80 per session. Therapy is an investment in your well-being and future, and I am committed to being transparent about the costs from the beginning.
5. How do I get started?
The first step is a free 30-minute consultation. This can be a phone call or a video call, and it’s a friendly, no-pressure conversation where you can tell me what's on your mind and ask me anything you like. It's a perfect opportunity for us to connect and decide if we're a good fit to work together. You can book a consultation directly through my website.
6. Is what we discuss confidential?
Yes, everything we discuss is held in the strictest confidence. As a qualified integrative therapist, I am a registered member of the BACP and am guided by their professional standards for confidentiality and ethical practice. There are a few very rare exceptions to confidentiality, which we will talk through and agree on during our first session to make sure you feel completely secure.
7. How often would we meet and for how long?
To build consistency and momentum in our work, we will meet weekly at the same time. For open-ended therapy, we will continue for as long as you feel it is helpful. For the BSFT programme, we will work within the 6-session framework. The overall duration is always led by your needs and what feels right for you.
