About Me

My experience of therapy was always about safety and having somewhere to say the things I couldn’t say to anyone else in my life. That is the feeling I try to replicate as a therapist. One of the best pieces of advice I got during my therapy training is ‘try to be in the position of not knowing’, and that is honestly how I approach each session. I’m here to learn about you - from your pain, anxiety or identity all the way down to how you were pissed off at someone for cutting in front of you when buying a coffee.

If I were telling another therapist about how I work, I would say I’m attachment-informed, relational and solution focused. But what that really means is I’m curious about how you got where you are, I like to talk about what it’s like for you to be in therapy and want to find a way forward that builds on your existing strengths (because you do have them!)

Coming to therapy is hard. And in the spirit of doing hard things, let me tell you how I got here. I finally decided to become a therapist while recovering from a major panic attack. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, kept me off work for 6 weeks and I honestly thought I was going to die. The support I received after it from a therapist changed my life, and made me realise I wanted to do the same for other people.

I bring a mixed background of skills and interests into my therapy practice. I previously worked in the banking industry for 5 years, including time as a qualified mortgage advisor, before retraining as a Social Worker. I have now been a Social Worker for nearly 12 years, including 5 years as a Team Manager.

All of these experiences mean I bring a unique range of knowledge and skills into my relationship with clients. I understand how the world around us shapes who we are and how we feel about ourselves. I have (very) firsthand experience of anxiety and know just how bad it can be. I have been through a journey of exploring my own identity and being supported to get back to myself when I was feeling lost in life and stuck in deep rooted patterns that had become harmful.

I am trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist. That means I’m not tied to one way of thinking about things, and means I can really tailor support to meet your needs. Some weeks might feel like you are doing all the talking, others will be more of a conversation. Sometimes we will be focusing on goals and action, and other things will feel slower and more reflective. It’s not always going to feel comfortable, it's rarely easy, but you will soon start to feel the momentum that has been missing in your life.

I'm registered with the BACP, fully insured, and everything I do is guided by their code of ethics.

I grew up between East London and Essex, and now Hackney in North East London is home. My online practice connects me with clients across the entire UK. Outside of therapy and work, I'm a busy parent to two young children. Like most people, I'm always navigating the tricky balancing act of career, family, and self-care - running is how I manage the chaos whenever I can find the time!
